How do I prepare my English for the IBPS PO exam?

1. Read 1 newspaper daily (such as: The Hindu or Economic Times). When reading the newspaper, keep a pen/pencil in your hand and mark those words you do not understand.
2. Time is quite important. Do NOT read ALL the news. Only focus on those topics:
   1. Anything related to Reserve Bank of India (RBI)
   2. Credit Policies
   3. Anything related to Banking Frauds (such as the latest one with Punjab National Bank)
   4. Governmental Schemes
   5. Awards & Honors
   6. Banking Regulation Changes
   7. Natural Disasters and State-wise News
   8. Achievements made by ISRO or any national authority
   9. Anything related to national economy (GDP growth, sector-wise development, inflation rate, etc.)
3. When reading news, IGNORE THE FOLLOWING:
   1. Any personal comment passed on by anyone
   2. Any kind of Bollywood-related news
   3. Any kind of election-specific news (like Rahul Gandhi saying <x> or Narendra Modi saying <y> to each other)
4. Speak in English with people you know or are comfortable with. If there is no option, then when you are alone, try thinking aloud to yourself in English.
5. For the Descriptive Test, take 1 topic every 2 days and practice writing an essay over it AND any topic that you think needs to be addressed, and write a letter on it. Don’t think, just write.
6. Stay away from slang words (like: dude, gotta, etc.), because they are not a part of the official English language and you will end up using them instead of the actual words).
