Candidate want to become an Income Tax Officer they must appear for the SSC CGL Exam or UPSC Exam. SSC CGL Exam is the main recruitment exam for Grade C and Grade B inspector for the department of Income Tax which comes under the Central government.
SSC CGL Exam is Conducted every year to recruit for position like Income Tax Inspector, Preventive Officer, Central Excise Inspector , Statistical Inspector , Sub – Inspector in CBI etc.
What is Income Tax Officer ?
Income Tax officer is an authoritative Inspector of the Income Tax Development who deals with tax – related matters of the Central Board of Direct Taxes ( CBDT). ITO analyse and examine business and personal tax accounts and ensure that the correct amount of tax is being paid.
ITO is one of the most popular and toughest Job offered through SSC CGL. The responsibilities of Income Tax Inspector is to administer direct taxation act passed by the Indian Parliament.
Eligibility
The age limit for the income tax officer is 30 years . To Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe and category are given age relaxation for 10 years .OBC given 3 years age relaxation and PWD candidates given 10 years age relaxation.
Candidate also fulfill the eligibility of physical fitness requirement.
For Male Candidate :-
Physical Standards Heights –
Height – 157.5 Cms
Chest – 81 Cms
Walking – 1600 Metre in 15 minutes.
Cycling – Candidate will be required to cycle 8 Kms in 30 minutes.
For Female Candidate :-
Physical Standard Heights –
Height – 152 Cms
Weight – 48 Kgs
Walking – Candidate will be required to walk 1m in 20 minutes.
Cycling – Candidate will be required to cycle 3 Kms in 25 minutes.
Exam pattern and Selection Process of Income Tax Officer
Selection Process can be done by four phase :-
Phase 1 – Application Form – The Candidate has to procure an application form and fill it using Correct details. You can get the form on SSC CGL official website .so , Go through the website.
Phase 2 – Preliminary Exam – The Candidate should have to pass the preliminary exam to be capable of sitting in the mains.
There may be two subjects in preliminary exam :-
• General Awareness – 100 questions
• Arithmetic Part B – 100 questions
Phase 3 – Main Examination – The Candidate who passed the preliminary exam now qualified for the main exam . The main exam can be done in two phase .

•Interview
Subjects of main exam :-
(1) General Studies (100 questions)
(2) Arithmetic ( 100 questions )
(3) English ( 50 questions )
(4) Language ( 50 questions )
(5) Communication Skill ( 100 questions)
Phase 4 – Personality Test – The Candidate will be selected only when they clear interview then they eligible to become an Income Tax Officer .
Educational Qualification
Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree from any recognised university or equivalent as on the date of eligibility.
Salary of ITO
The Salary of the Income Tax Officer is vary according to the city you live in. The Salary of an Income Tax Officer lies between Rs 57,000 to 60,000.
