UPSC Exam pattern, Syllabus, Eligibility & Salary

The Union public service commission, commonly known as UPSC, it is India’s premier central requirement agency. In this article, we are sharing details about the UPSC Exam Pattern, Syllabus, Eligibility & Salary. UPSC is responsible to examine All India Service of Group A and Group B.

UPSC is one of the toughest and most popular competitive exams in India. UPSC is held to hire officers for All India Services, Central Services, and State Service.
The selection procedure is in three stages:-

Stage1- Preliminary Examination ( usually
Conducted in May/June, result by August).

Stage 2- Main Examination ( usually Conducted around November, result by February /March).

Stage 3 – Interview (usually Conducted over March/April, the final result announced a few days before the next preliminary exam).

UPSC Preliminary Exam pattern:-

The prelims consist of two main papers – General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper-II; each having 200 marks and the paper will be in MCQs.
The minimum qualifying mark of General Studies Paper-II of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination is 33% and also score the qualifying marks in General Studies Paper-I of exam which decided by the Commission.

UPSC preliminary syllabus:-

Group-1:-
• Current events of national and international importance.
• History of India and Indian National Movement.
• India and world geography- physical, social, economic geography of India and the world.
• General issue on Environmental Ecology, Bio-Diversity, and climate change that does not require subjects specialization.
• General Science
• Economic and social development sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives, etc.
• Indian polity and governance constitution political system, Panchayati Raj, public policy, Rights issue, etc.
Group 2:-
• Comprehension
• Basic numeracy.
• Interpersonal Skills including communication
skills.
• General mental ability
• Decision making and problem-solving
• Logical reasoning and analytical ability.

UPSC Main Exam Pattern and Syllabus:-

The main examination will have a total 9 paper will have essay types in which the2 papers are qualifying paper and 7 paper to be counted for merit.

Qualifying Papers:-

Paper A- Anyone Indian language to be selected by the candidate from the language included in the 8th schedule to the constitution. (300marks).

Paper B- English language (300 Marks).

According to the UPSC Exam new pattern, one optional Subject is enough, each optional Subject contains two papers, each paper of 250 marks and the total marks are 500.

Paper to be Conducted for merit:-

Paper 1- Essay (250 marks).

Paper 2 – General studies 1{ Indian Heritage and Cultural, History, the geography of the world & society}.( 250 marks).

Paper 3 – General studies 2{ Governance, constitution, polity, social justice, and international relations}. (250matks).

Paper 4 – General studies 3{ Technology, Economic development, bio – Diversity, environment security & Disaster Management}.(250 marks).

Paper 5 – General studies 4{ Ethics, integrity, and Aptitude}. ( 250 marks).

Paper 6 – optional Subject (paper1)- 250 marks.

Paper 7 – optional Subject (paper 2) – 250 marks.

Subtotal written test – 1750 marks and personality Test (Interview)- 275 marks
Grand Total marks – 2025 marks.

Interview Pattern and Syllabus:-

The interview test is a total of 275 marks.
(1) The candidate will be judge by some quality of interview panel:-
• Mental Alertness
• critical power of assimilation
• clear and logical exposition
• Balance of judgment
• Variety and depth of interest
• Ability for social cohesion and leadership
• Intellectual and moral integrity.

(2) There are no strict techniques for the interview with a brain crash cross-examination. The main aim of the interview is to disclose the psychological merit of the candidate.

(3) The Commission expects from the candidate that they have a deep interest and comprehensive understanding of the social-economic and political issues only the country but across the world.

1. IAS (Indian Administrative Service).
Qualification: Any Graduate
Age Limit: 21-32 years
No. of Attempts allowed- 4- 9

2.IPS ( Indian Police Service )

Qualification: Any Graduate
Age Limit: 21 – 32 years
No of Attempts Allowed: 4 – 9
Salary- Rs 2,25,000.

3. IFS-(Forest Indian Forest Service)

Qualification: Graduate in Qualifying Subject
Age Limit: 21 – 30 years
No of Attempts Allowed: 6 – 9
Salary- Rs 10,00,000- 13,00,00(per annum).

4. IP & TAFS( Indian Post & Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service).

Qualification: Any Graduate
Age Limit: 21 – 32 years
No of Attempts Allowed: 6 – 9
Salary- Rs 15600- 39100.

5. IFS-(Foreign Indian Foreign Service).

Qualification: Any Graduate
Age Limit: 21 – 32 years
No of Attempts Allowed: 4 – 9
Salary- Rs 2.40 lakh (per annum).

6. IAAS (Indian Audit and Accounts Service).

Qualification: Any Graduate
Age Limit: 21 – 32 years
No of Attempts Allowed: 4 – 9
Salary- Rs 18,000- 26,000

7. IRS( Indian Revenue Service).

Qualification: Any Graduate
Age Limit: 21-32 years
No of Attempts Allowed: 6 – 9
Salary- Rs 2,50,000(per annum).

8. IDAS (Indian Defence Accounts Service).

Qualification: Any Graduate
Age Limit: 21 – 32 years
No of Attempts Allowed: 6 – 9
Salary- Rs 15,600- 39,100.

9. CMSE (Combined Medical Services).

Qualification: MBBS
Age Limit: 21-32 Years
Salary-Rs 56,100- 1,77,500.

10.IRTS (Indian Railway Traffic Service).

Qualification: Any Graduate
Age Limit: 21-32 years
No of Attempts Allowed: 6 – 9
Salary- Rs 37,400- 80,000.

11. IRAS (Indian Railway Accounts Service).

Qualification: Any Graduate
Age Limit: 21-32 years
No of Attempts Allowed: 6 – 9
Salary- Rs 14,300 – 26,000.

12.IRPS (Indian Railway Personnel Service).

Qualification: Graduate
Age limit-21-32 years
No of Attempt Allowed: 6 to 9
Salary- Rs 8000- 18,000.

13. ITS( Indian Trade Service).

Qualification: Any Graduate
Age Limit: 21 – 32 years
No of Attempts Allowed: 6 -9
Salary- Rs 15,600- 39,100.

13.CAPF – (AC Central Armed Police Forces Assistant Commandants)

Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree
Age Limit: 20-25 Years
Salary- Rs 44,135

14. NDA & NA (I) and (II) National Defence Academy & Naval Academy (I) and (II)

Qualification: 10+2 Pass
Age Limit: 16-20 Years
Salary- Rs 20,000.

15. CISF – AC (Exe) LDCE Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) – Assistant Commandants (Executive) LDCE

Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree
Age Limit: Less than 35 years
No. of Attempts Allowed: 3
Salary- Rs 2400- 2800.

The salary of the civil service change according to their post. Now, I think it’s enough for UPSC Candidate.
