TGT full form, Exam date, Syllabus, Eligibility

The Trained Graduate Teacher examination is conducted by KVS(Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan) to recruit teachers for various schools.

An accomplished and experienced teacher is titled a Trained Graduate Teacher, abbreviated as TGT. Therefore, a Trained Graduate Teacher is not a course but a title. 

Therefore Trained Graduate Teacher is a tag for an experienced and trained graduate.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan(KVS) has about 850 schools under its supervision collectively in India, Moscow, and Kathmandu. These schools are under the affiliation of CBSE(Central Board of Secondary Education).

Each year KVS recruits thousands of teachers to these schools through the Trained Graduate Teacher examination.

POSTS TO WHICH THE TRAINED GRADUATE TEACHERS ARE APPOINTED THROUGH THE TGT EXAM

The various posts to which the teachers are appointed include:

  • TGT-English

  • TGT- Hindi
  • TGT-Social Science

  • TGT-Science

  • TGT-Sanskrit

  • TGT-Math

  • TGT-Physical Education(P and HE)

  • TGT-Art Education(AE)

  • TGT-Electrical Gadget and Electronics(WE)

The teachers appointed through Trained Graduate Teacher examination has a pay scale of approximately: Rs.9300- Rs.34800 and additional grade pay of Rs.4600

 KVS has not released the Trained Graduate Teacher exam date for 2020-21 but the date will be notified as soon as it is released on the KVS official website http://kvsangathan.nic.in.

The vacancies for the post of Trained Graduate Teacher(TGT) have not been released yet by KVS but will be notified soon on the official website of KVS.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ATTEMPTING THE TRAINED GRADUATE TEACHER EXAMINATION

Qualification required for being eligible to attend the KVS Trained Graduate Teacher exam:

  • Firstly, only those candidates who cleared paper 2 of Central Teachers Eligibility Test(CTET) and have a professional qualification of B.Ed. can apply for the post of Trained Graduate Teachers in the KVS TGT examination for the subjects: English, Hindi, Maths, Science, Social Studies.

  • Secondly, the candidate must undergo a four year integrated degree course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in the subject he/she has opted for in the TGT exam and should have at least 50%of the total marks in aggregate

         OR

  • he/she should have a bachelor’s degree in that particular subject or combination of subjects and should carry at least 50% marks in aggregate.

  • But a candidate with special B.Ed. or B.Ed. or D.Ed. can not apply unless and until he/she has cleared Central Teachers Eligibility Test paper 2.

  • The minimum age limit to appear in the exam is 21 years and there is no upper age limit.

PATTERN OF EXAMINATION

KVS TGT exam pattern:

  • There are two parts to the Trained Graduate Teachers exam: part 1 and part 2.

  • The preliminary KVS Trained Graduate Teachers exam has a total of 150 Objective Type Questions.

  • The preliminary KVS Trained Graduate teachers exam is conducted for 3hours.

Marking pattern of KV Trained Graduate Teachers exam:

Part 1 : Aptitude Test.

  • Total 110 questions.

  • 1 mark per question.

Part 2 : Language competency Test.

  • Total 40 questions.

  • 1 mark per question.

  1. English Competency Test.

  • Total 20 questions.

     2.Hindi Competency Test.

  • Total 20 questions.

Cut off marks for preliminary of KVS Trained Graduate Teachers exam:

  • The total cut off is not released and will be decided by the KVS authorities and will be released after the examination is held. The cut off will depend solely on the performance of all the students appearing in the Trained Graduate Teachers preliminary examination.

  • Part 2 is only qualifying in nature.

  1. Qualifying marks for English Competency Test is: 5 marks out of 20 marks.

  2. Qualifying marks for Hindi Competency Test is : 5 marks out of 20 marks.

  3. The total cut off for English and Hindi Competency combined is: 13 marks out of 40 marks.

Moreover, there is no negative marking for wrong answers in part 1 as well as in part 2.therefore, no question should be left unanswered in the KVS Trained Graduate Teachers preliminary examination.

Syllabus for the KVS Trained Graduate Teachers preliminary examination include:

  • Part 1:

  1. General Awareness(GK, Current Affairs, Indian Constitution, General Science).

  2. Test of Reasoning.

  3. Quantitative Aptitude Test.

  4. Teaching Aptitude Test.

  • Part 2:

  1. English language.

  2. Hindi language.

KVS Trained Graduate Teachers examination application form :

  • Currently, KVS till now did not release any updates on the application form of TGT exam 2020.  

  • The exam date also has not been released in the official website of KVS.

  • Most probably, as per previous years data,  the eligible candidates will have to apply through the official website of KVS i.e. http://kvsangathan.nic.in or through http://www.jobapply.in/kvs/

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

Requirements to apply for the KVS Trained Graduate Teachers examination:

  • Firstly, the candidates must keep ready a valid email id which will be needed at the time of form fill-up.

  • Moreover, candidates applying online should take a print out of the auto generated filled in application form for future reference.

  • Secondly, it is necessary to keep photocopies of the  filled in application form and relevant documents with them which will be required at the time of interview if selected.

  • But, there is no need for the candidates to post or mail their application or documents to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan(KVS).

Prior examination to-do list:

  •  First of all,  candidates should keep track of the posts and advertisements released in the official website of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan(KVS) i.e. http://kvsangathan.nic.in

  •  Moreover, interested candidates can get access to the previous years papers through online mode totally free in https://www.jbigdeal.in/ or other such relevant sites.

  • Also, candidates can also go to https://www.jbigdeal.in/ and appear in mock tests in order to prepare better.

  • Lastly, it is good if the candidates possess at least one book which has been exclusively made for TGT exam. Moreover, practicing sample papers from about 10 years back can also help one to score high.
